For around a grand, this bike is spec'd very well. I ride a variety of Pac NW XC trails full of roots, rocks, mud and sand and this bike handles everything I've thrown at it. I'd like to see a better fork and beefier wheelset, but what do want for $1000 price point? Great value.
I got this bike because I was having to work twice as hard on my Mongoose on the trails as my friends with Treks. I shopped around and found the X-Cal 8 to be the best bang for the buck! The components on the bike along with the lightweight amazing quality of Trek made this the obvious choice. When I got it, I could not believe the difference in quality and just riding overall. I was able to accelerate with ease and pedal up hills effortlessly. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this bike!
