Great blend of comfort, speed, light weight, and durability. Very versatile bike. Perfect for my purposes. Although some may not want to admit it I think this is also a bike for the serious cyclist who wants or needs just a little more comfort. This bike proves you can have comfort and high performance at the same time.
For exercise, my feet and knees can no longer take the abuse of regular distance pavement running so I am now back on a bike. I compared the Verve to several other manufacturer models and I am VERY pleased with the Verve 4. Because of my age and neck issues, I wanted an upright bike, the Verve fits the bill. My Cateye computer shows that in three months I have put 600 miles on the bike. I average around 14 MPH which is not that great compared to an equivalent in price and size road bike, but the Verve was not designed to be a race bike. Apart from the usual break in cable adjustments at 100 miles that the dealer did, the bike has been awesome! Smooth shifting, easy to pedal and with the front shocks, while on rough roads, I feel minimal street bounce.
I purchased this bike last year right after they came out. I am very satisfied with it. I could come with a more comfortable seat and road tires but I purchased them after I purchased the bike, they made much difference in the ride. I would recommend this bike fully.
I use it for daily commuting, 10 miles round trip, and an occasional towpath ride along the I+M canal in Illinois. I have enjoyed it so far. It has 27 speeds, 1 tooth lower cassette top gear than the Verve3. I am about 250 lbs so I was looking at the Verve 3 originally for the double wall rims and hard case tires. In the end I settled for the 4 because of the ergonomic grips as well. To me, it seems like a lightweight bike. YMMV.
